ROOKIE GAS ENGINE RULES
Print Rookie Engine Rules

1. ENGINE – Any stock Flat Head 5 HP, 13 cubic inch, horizontal shaft, Briggs & Stratton   4-cycle engine is legal.
2. BLOCK – Dual bearing block .035 max bore.  Pop up .015 max. Porting is allowed. No back facing of spring pockets. No welding of lifter bores.
3. HEAD – Factory stock head will be used.
Head must meet minimum specs .011-.408-.300
4. CAM– Stock cam .233 lift & will use .020 check. “NO SLAPPER STYLE CAMS”
5. CARBURETOR – OEM pulse jet type only. No fixed jet carburetors allowed. NO MODIFICATIONS May be made to the Carburetor. This includes, but not limited to, polishing, boring, screen removal, butterfly, throttle shaft, etc…
6. OEM PARTS – All engine  parts must be Original Equipment Manufacturer unless otherwise stated herein. All parts are subject to technical inspection, even if not listed here. Parts will be compared to other known stock parts. A cut throttle shaft is OK.

7. VALVE LASH – Not a technical inspection item.
8. IGNITION TIMING – OEM factory stock key. (straight up)
9. DIPPER  - Any dipper may be used. Stock length connecting rod. Billet Rod OK.
10.  RESTRICTOR PLATE – Horstman BLUE .425” must be used between carb and block with gasket on each side. NO MODIFICATION to restrictor, block or carb
10.  FUEL – Unleaded, automotive regular pump gas only. No additives. May be tested for legality.
12. OIL – Driver’s option, but must pass flash/sniffer test.
13. HEADER – Any header that is IKF legal may be used.
14. MUFFLER -  RLV B-91 (REQUIRED)
15. AIR  CLEANER  ADAPTER – Must be IKF approved.
16. CLUTCH – Must be NORAM two shoe centrifugal dry type clutch. (NO DISC CLUTCHES.)
17. TIRES – May run any treaded tires or slicks.
18. ENGINE CLAIM - $600.00 less motor mount, header, chain guard, filter adapter and clutch.
